Just pure comfort. Perfection in gingerbread form. I am falling over myself trying to write about it because there are so many elements I could draw attention to first. This is my festive season scent now.

Spiced and sweet, you get round, smooth nutmeg and a fantastic ginger and cinnamon concoction, all baked into deep, caramelised biscuits. There's a real textural quality of hot bread and butter, largely coming from the toasted hazelnut note. This could easily be too sweet, but all of the vanilla, tonka and caramel is beautifully tempered by the spices.

It smells like a cuddle.

Ginger Biscuit is absolutely a gourmand in the best way. It manages to elegantly sidestep the messiness of your typical cartoonish festive perfume and instead creates a purposeful little time capsule to Christmas. It lands you straight in a steamy kitchen, mulled wine on the stove, cutting shapes out of biscuit dough while it snows outside.

The longevity is fleeting on my skin, which I actually love because it means I can wear it around the house without getting a headache, which is always my concern with scents based on puddings.

I'm not sure how I went so long without discovering this perfume, considering the buzz it creates each year with its limited release. I managed to talk myself out of a full bottle, partly because of a no-blind-buy rule I've set for myself and my wallet, and instead bought a 10ml to see if it would actually enhance my favourite time of year with its wonderful toasted memories.

It does, and I found myself dabbing it periodically on my jumper before curling up for toasty naps throughout the holidays.

I may have to snap up a full bottle next year...
